Spotlight Story RHBA Non-Profit: Focus on Youth “FOY”

RHBA’s non-profit Spotlight for February is Focus on Youth. Empowering and inspiring homeless youth to succeed through sustainable gardening and photography. FOY needs volunteers, sign up during the month of February to volunteer for the push to get the beds ready for planting (a March activity) or sponsor a raised garden bed for youth.

Many Reasons to Celebrate 2016! Accomplishments/Updates:

  • Exceeded SeedMoney campaign! FOY was awarded a $400 grant on top of the $800 they raised by local sponsors.
  • FOY were honored to host Oregon State Representative Margaret Doherty and Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish in October. Continued partnerships with our local and state government officials help raise awareness for our mission to empower homeless youth.
  • FOY is proud of the efforts our participants have made throughout 2016. FOY youth donating fresh food from the garden, expanding garden habitats, to learning how to cook sustainable food.
  • FOY received a grant from the City of Portland to build a teaching kitchen/classroom setting and bathroom.
