Recycle/Shred Event

Our 14th Annual Recycle/Shred Event will be April 18, 2026

We are asking for our generous members and non-members to help defray cost of renting the Shred Truck. If we have 10 people/businesses donate $75/each we will have the truck paid for!

We will be having our event from 9am to Noon in the AAA Parking lot on 8555 SW Apple Way, PDX 97225

We are planning on have some new community partners at our event, stay tuned!

  • Those business who will be attending this year are:
    • SBC Recycle - accepting eWaste
    • Community Warehouse will be accepting usable home-goods
    • Garden Home/West Slope Community Libraries will be taking bottles and cans
    • Neighborhood House will be accepting canned and non-perishable food items
    • RHBA accepting boxes for shred - this year there will be a fee, prices TBA
      • James Recycle will be accepting items at their remote location TBA
        • Valley Community Presbyterian will be have their own recycle event: it's an opportunity to park your car and walk through and talk to the different earth friendly business in the greater Portland area

 

Recap of Our 13th Annual Shred Event was 4/26/25

The tally of donations:

310 Cars: We also received generous cash donations from some of the 310 cars that showed up, showing their appreciation for our organization and what we bring to the community.

SBC: 3500 lbs of electronics, batteries and lights

Community Warehouse: 2 trucks were necessary to accept all the donations

Friends of West Slope Library: 2 cars were full of bottles and cans for recycling

Shred NW: 76 roll carts totaling 11,390 lbs of shred

Neighborhood House: 885 lbs of groceries (small SUV filled with canned goods, etc)

A BIG THANK YOU to AAA of Oregon/Beaverton for their generosity. Providing their parking lot year after year to RHBA for our Annual Recycle/Shred Event.

  • Friends of West Slope Library Association and Garden Home Community Library: Collecting bottles and cans
  • Neighborhood House: Collecting non-perishable food and personal hygiene items. (Statistics: 1.2 lbs of food = 1 meal according to the Oregon Food Bank).

  • Community Warehouse: A nonprofit furniture bank in Portland, Tigard and Gresham that collects home goods and redistributes them to those who need them most.
  • Valley Community Presbyterian Church Earth Care Team had a steady flow of donations. They will be at a separate location (a few blocks away) collecting other recyclable items, same day.
